As I said before,I just can’t get enough of chalk board paint.I love it!!
A few days ago I decided to redo a wall in between my kitchen ,living dining room area.I have always used this wall as a catch all and message board but with chalk stickers. After running out of room to write on the chalk stickers several times I took the plunge and decided to chalk paint the whole wall.It looks great, plain black or with notes on it.And trust me if there is a message you have to get across to a particular person who is sometimes forgetful, you can make your message as loud and big as you want…lol
To chalk board paint first you must have….
-Tape so you do not paint the trim
-a brush for cutting in .Chalk paint is oil based so don`t use your favorite brush.
-a disposable tray
-sponge roller for best application
-drop clothe or newspaper..oil is very hard to get off floors
- chalk paint .Usually around $29 for a half gallon.
Be warned that this product is very, very smelly I would recommend this being a summer or spring project.I had to have all the windows on the main floor open,it was definitely chilly. Also I would recommend doing it while your kids are at school or asleep in another area of the house.I still haven`t heard the end of it from my husband and kids..lol
To get started first wipe down the walls, tape and begin to cut in.After the cutting is done go ahead with the roller,be generous with the paint but make sure you have no drips.
Being my second time painting a chalk wall I am confident to say two coats will do the trick but wait 2hrs between coats. After the wall is done wait 24hrs,wipe the wall down with water and start to create!
Happy Painting! Tonya
