Hockey Theme for a Girls Room?

Yes,my daughter has grown out of the pink and purple at the young age of seven,I can`t believe it!..Now she wants a hockey room?

She plays girls hockey on our local team the Barracudas and is really starting to get into it but do you think I could find cute hockey decor for a girl anywhere?No!!!So I’ve decided to whip up a little something of my own creation.

Here are a few shots of the room before…I am selling off her old furniture and decor if anyone is interested?Dresser ,desk,chair,bookcase and wall art for $350..hand painted by me of course.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As you might notice from the before pictures we have a lot of toys in the room which I am now moving to another area of the house,I think the toy issue was a little out of control from the Christmas craziness.

I chose to paint the walls a soft cream almost white the colour is “Gorge Water”by General Paints.I am still in the process of painting some new furniture pieces in  black”Crows Head” but one side of the room is done.

I am a big fan of Antiques and vintage,I hung an Antique mirror at a height she will appreciate  to get ready in the morning.The original mirror was gold .I painted the corners “Cloud White”to contrast slightly with the walls.Not being able to find hockey decor I purchased some inexpensive frames from Ikea and added in my daughters signed hockey cards.I embellished them slightly with turquoise ribbon to match the decor of the room.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After the pictures were hung I hung up two hockey sticks one on top of the other that I purchased at Canadian Tire on Sale($8 each)

I wrapped them in turquoise silk ribbon to mimic hockey tape and hung them with black silk ribbon to match the black furniture.They still needed a little girly touch so I added a few bows with rhinestone diamonds in the center of the bows.I think the end product turned out great and my daughter is extremely happy with her almost done hockey room.i will post finished pictures later this week.
